A knee injury in the offseason couldn’t derail Julia DiPaola’s drive to play volleyball.

Now, the Stow-Munroe Falls senior will get a chance to play at the collegiate level.

DiPaola signed a national letter of intent Friday to continue her academic and volleyball careers at Fairmont State University, an NCAA Division II college located in Fairmont, W. Va.

DiPaola chose Fairmont to due to a welcoming atmosphere, noting she felt comfortable immediately with her future teammates. She chose Fairmont over offers from Otterbein University in Westerville and Edinboro University in Edinboro, Penn.

DiPaola carries a 3.8 grade-point average at Stow, plans to major in business marketing at Fairmont and will play as an outside hitter for the Falcons.
