Hudson Players will hold auditions for "Nunsense" Nov. 12-13, at 7 p.m. at the Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt St., Hudson.
The show will be directed by Chanda Porter, with Dave Stebbins serving as musical director. Performances are Feb. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 23 and 24. Showtime is 8 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee Feb. 18.
Auditions are open. No experience is necessary. Take sheet music for the accompanist and prepare at least a 16-bar song. Musical auditions will normally include a movement exercise and reading from the script. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
"Nunsense" begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials.
The sisters decide the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show.
The roles include Sister Mary Regina, Mother Superior: 50s to 60s (Range: B3-F5), a feisty, overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can’t resist the spotlight; Sister Mary Hubert, Mistress of Novices: mid-50s (Range: G3-F5); Sister Robert Anne: mid-30s (Range:G3-D5), a streetwise taught character from Brooklyn; Sister Mary Amnesia: late 30s (Range: Db4-C6); and Sister Mary Leo: Female, 20s to 30s (Range: G#3-G5).
