A Cuyahoga Falls man is behind bars in connection with a bank robbery in Tallmadge last month.
Tallmadge Police arrested Jacob K. Onusic, 23, on Thursday, July 13, and charged him with robbery, a second-degree felony, according to a news release from Tallmadge Police. While identified by police as a Cuyahoga Falls resident; a Shelby address is listed in Stow Municipal Court records.
According to police, Onusic was identified as the masked suspect who entered the PNC Bank on East Avenue on June 23, jumped the counter and demanded money from employees. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in a silver Dodge Caliber driven by another person reportedly waiting for Onusic in the bank parking lot.
The crime scene was processed by Tallmadge detectives as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Akron office. Onusic was identified by a DNA swab processed by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the release said.
Tallmadge detectives located Onusic in the 1800 block of Second Street in Cuyahoga Falls on July 13 with the assistance of Cuyahoga Falls Police, the U.S. Marshall’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and FBI Akron. He is being held in the Summit County Jail.
The investigation continues as law enforcement works to identify the driver of the getaway car.
