Northfield Center -- Rockin' Frocks celebrated another successful year helping 441 teens obtain gowns for prom this spring.
Through the "Sponsor a Girl" program, 109 of these gowns were gifted to girls in need. "Sponsor a Girl" gave the public an opportunity to donate $50 which provided a young woman her choice of dress and accessories. The program will return for homecoming in the fall.
An additional 206 teens received free gowns while the remaining 126 gowns were given to teens for $1-$40 donation. All proceeds went directly back into the volunteer run shop. Linda Imrie, who runs the shop said all funds the shop received for prom dresses was used to purchase more dresses from clearance sales to help replenish the store.
Rockin' Frocks believes every girl should have the opportunity to attend formal events and embrace their own unique beauty.
The non-profit dress shop is always accepting donations of new and very gently worn dresses and accessories as well as monetary gifts.
"Sponsor a Girl" will run again through the 2017 Homecoming Season. Last fall approximately 1,000 homecoming dresses were distributed. A greater amount is anticipated this year.
Area businesses are welcome to become involved by offering complimentary services, running a fundraiser of providing the shop with in-kind donations.
