Hydrant flushing has begun in the city of Cuyahoga Falls and will run roughly through Aug. 18. Hydrant flushing will occur during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Hydrant flushing serves an important dual purpose of removing sediment and iron deposits from the mains, and it also provides a check of the working conditions of hydrants to ensure the best fire protection for the community.
Barricades and signs will alert residents and drivers to areas where hydrant flushing is occurring. Water may appear discolored after flushing. Allow the cold water to run until it clears.
