Rain is on the way, but thunderstorms are not expected until later on Friday, according to the National Weather Service's Cleveland office.

A low-pressure system tracking from the west across southern Ohio Thursday is the harbinger of a cold front expected to pass through Northeast Ohio Friday afternoon, the service reports. Friday afternoon highs are expected to be in the mid-80s.

The cold front will cross the region Friday night with thunderstorms, followed by cooler air and lake-effect showers into Saturday. Showers will end Saturday night as a high pressure system develops and a warm front locates north of Lake Erie on Sunday.

Highs are projected to be in the mid 70s on Saturday, with warmer temperatures back in the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies on Sunday.
