Cuyahoga Falls -- The cause of death of an 87-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man whose body was found in a pond behind his home last weekend was ruled a "drowning after an apparent natural event related to [the victim's] heart disease," according to the county coroner.

Gary Guenther, chief investigator for the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office, added that the death of Rudolf Joseph Hinderegger was ruled an "accident."

Mr. Hinderegger's wife reported finding her husband "unresponsive in the pond behind their home" in the 3400 block of Cobblestone Lane at about 6:50 p.m. June 25, according to the police report.

Mr. Hinderegger was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:15 p.m. and taken to the coroner's office. Cuyahoga Falls Police Chief Jack Davis told the Falls News-Press on June 28 that his department is not investigating the case.

Mr. Hinderegger's obituary appears on Page 12 in today's paper.
