A handful of her friends are organizing a fundraiser for Malarie DiEgidio, an Aurora alumnae who is battling Stage 4 Lyme disease and black mold poisoning.
It will be July 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Papous Tap & Grill in the Aurora Commons. A charge of $10 will be collected at the door and there will be a silent auction, plus raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.
Some of the prizes are one month free pool service, dry cleaning services, golf pro gift certificate, beauty products gift baskets and free tattoo services. The grand prize is a big-screen television set. The raffle drawing will be at 6:30 p.m.
According to her friend Betsy Harris, the 33-year-old DiEgidio graduated from AHS in 2001 and now resides in Cleveland with her husband.
"We are hoping to raise $8,000 to send her to a lymn disease treatment center in Georgia, since it isn't covered by her current insurance and she can't work anymore because of her symptoms.
