Meanwhile, Aurora students named to the Miami of Ohio dean's list (top 20 percent of undergrads) are Andrew Kondik, Anthony Scott, James Steinbauer, Scott Sutton, John Contes, Ian Socrates and Maddie Tutkovics.

Samuel Filkouski of Aurora, a student in the School of Business, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. To be eligible, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits, and each school or college sets its own grade-point average requirements.

The following local students were named to the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester at Baldwin Wallace University for achieving at least a 3.6 grade-point average: Karen Doran, Rachel Garrett, Olivia Pollack, Zachary Sluzala, Zachary Stahl and Amber Vargo. All are graduates of Aurora High except for Doran (Frankfort), Sluzala (Strongsville) and Vargo (Crestwood).

Alfred J. Beckstrom of Aurora attained recognition as a dean's list scholar in the College of Engineering and Business for the spring 2017 semester at Gannon University in Erie, Pa. He is a mechanical engineering major and the son of Jeffrey and Mary Beckstrom. To be named, students must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5.
Meanwhile, Cleveland State University has announced that Mr. and Mrs. Beckstrom's daughter Louise L. Beckstrom of Aurora was named to the dean's list for the spring semester in the college of engineering, where she is a chemical engineering major.

Emily Moore of Aurora has been elected vice president of the University of Findlay's Student Government Association Senate. The University of Findlay is one of the largest private colleges in Northwest Ohio with an enrollment of more than 4,000.
