Ward 6 City Councilman hosts 'Community Cookout' July 1

State rep to have office hours June 26

State Rep. Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) will be holding district office hours June 26 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Hudson Library and Historical Society, 96 Library Street, Hudson. No appointment is necessary for these office hours and everyone is encouraged to participate.

Village Council will not meet July 3

Due to the upcoming Independence Day holiday, Silver Lake Village Council has canceled its meeting scheduled for July 3. The next meeting willt take place July 17 at 7 p.m. in Village Hall, 2961 Kent Road.

Village Council looks to fill upcoming vacancy

Silver Lake Village Council is looking to fill an upcoming vacancy.

Council member Karen Fuller (District C) told her colleagues that she will attend her last meeting as a Council member on July 17. Fuller said she and her husband Steve are moving to Columbus this summer to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Any District C resident who is interested in serving on Village Council should send a letter and resume to the attention of Council President Jerry Jones at Village Hall, 2961 Kent Road, Silver Lake, OH 44224. Jones noted the communications may also be emailed to him at jjones@villageofsilverlake.com and added he would like to receive applications by mid-July.

Whoever is appointed by Council to fill the vacancy being left by Fuller would serve out the remainder of the term, which ends Dec. 31, 2017. The District C post, along with the other District Council positions, are up for election in November 2017. The deadline to file petitions to run for Council's four District positions in November is Aug. 9.

Portion of Second Street closed for Cruise In on Mondays

The Don Sitts Riverfront Car Cruise is operating in its new location in the Weller Court Municipal Parking Lot and the parking lot of St. Joseph's. During the Cruise In on Monday nights, Second Street will be closed from Broad Boulevard to Falls Avenue, open only to traffic going to Pilgrim Church or Absorbent Minds Montessori School.

North-, southbound Route 8 exits will have lane restrictions

The State Route 8 northbound and southbound exit ramps at Howe Avenue will have various daily lane restrictions to lengthen the exit ramps at the Route 8 and Howe Avenue interchange. This work is part of a $700,000 project to increase storage capacity at the Route 8 northbound and southbound ramps at Howe Avenue. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by August.

Lane restrictions on Route 8 for bridge work

State Route 8 between Howe Avenue and Graham Road has various daily and nightly lane restrictions for bridge repairs. These restrictions will occur between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. This work is part of a $4.6 million project to resurface Route 8 between Howe and Graham roads, State Route 303 from east of Chittenden Road to Olde 8 and on SR 261 from just west of Route 8 to N. Main Street. The project also includes miscellaneous bridge repairs. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by October.
