1 -- Look for farm fresh food
The Aurora Farmers Market continues each Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. through Aug. 30 in the parking lot behind the Church in Aurora. There are many local vendors on hand offering a variety of food and other products.
2 -- Go skateboarding!
Grab your skateboard and head over to Aurora's Kiwanis-Moore Skatepark on June 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. for Go Skateboarding Day. The event is sponsored by Martini Skate and Snow. There will be contests, giveaways and fun. It is free and open to all ages and skill levels. For details, visit www.martiniskateandsnow.com/
3 -- Find a few good books
Local residents can get find some good reading for summer nights or cold winter days and nights at the Friends of the Library book sale June 24 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Aurora Memorial Library. The sale takes place two times each month in the library's basement.
4 -- Enjoy music outdoors!
The third in the city's summer music concert series will take place June 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. when Silver Creek consisting of Robert and Deborah Carothers performs classic, country and southern rock tunes at the Veterans Memorial Park gazebo.
Bring lawn chairs or a blanket to enjoy the music on the grassy hillside. If the weather is rainy, the concert will take place in Aurora High's auditorium. In case of inclement weather, call the hotline at 330-655-6410 for up to date information.
5 -- Many other special events
The annual Summerfest provides fun for the entire family June 23-25 in Garrettsville -- just a short drive from Aurora east on Route 82. Chris Higbee is a featured entertainer, and there will be several other musicians and singers performing. Other activities include a tractor parade, the festival parade, Sky Lanes bowling alley's Queen of Hearts raffle and plenty of food.
Some other outstanding special events that local residents can attend over the weekend are the Old European Days and Bierfest at the German Family Society grounds on Ranfield Road in Brimfield Township, the International Festival at Black River Landing in Lorain and the Waterloo Arts Festival in the Waterloo Arts and Entertainment District in Cleveland.
