The following actions were taken by Aurora City Council at its June 12 meeting:


Tax abatement for Liberty Ford Investment Group for a 75 percent, 15-year abatement of real property taxes in the city's Community Reinvestment Area III.

Appropriate $2,708 from the police contraband sales fund for the purchase of honor guard uniforms.

Confirm the mayor's reappointment of Marge Bjerregaard as a member of the Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority board of trustees for a three-year term ending June 30, 2020.

Purchase of a 2017 Ford F150 truck from Liberty Ford (net cost of $29,999 after trade-ins of two older vehicles) for the police department.

Accept easements from Issac Pennock III, Edith Tait and Deborah Conti for the purpose of constructing a sidewalk in accordance with the city's connectivity plan.

Settlement agreement in the James R. Silver v. Ohio Public Employees Retirement System case, subject to a vacation of the judgment in the court of appeals, and appropriating $22,516 from the general fund.

Payment of $11,082 to the Bertram Inn for the Tree City USA luncheon May 10.

Contract with K Co. for a six-month maintenance agreement ($13,947) for the city's HVAC systems.

Resolution strongly opposing the passage of House Bill 49 by the Ohio General Assembly, which proposes centralized collection of municipal net profit tax returns.

Contract with Klyn Nurseries ($16,532) for purchase of various trees for the Hartman Tree Arboretum.

Continue a natural gas endorsement program and extend an agreement with Constellation Energy as Choice Inc. for a two-year period.

Contract with Ronyak Paving Inc. ($919,844) for the 2017 asphalt road paving program.

Contract with GPD Group ($25,950) to provide a citywide traffic signal warrant study.

Amend "employees generally" ordinance to reflect a change in compensation for Town Hall receptionist/secretary Tina Davis.


City tax budget for calendar year 2018. Ordinance was tabled. Tax budget must be adopted by July 15 to comply with the Ohio Revised Code.

One-year contracts to continue dispatching services with Community EMS and the Garrettsville Fire Department.

Contract with Hall Public Safety Co. ($10,285) to install new and used equipment in new police vehicles.

Assess the cost of abating certain nuisances to property owners so the assessments can be added to their 2018 real estate tax bills.


Tax abatement to Trelleborg Sealing Profiles Inc. for 100 percent, 15 years of real property taxes in CRA-I, plus an income tax rebate incentive agreement of 33 percent for five years.
