CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Head to downtown Falls June 23 from 4-8 p.m. for Kids Fest, an "all hands on deck" celebration for children.

Kids Fest is an evening of fun for the children that features music, crafts and interactive play.

"Kids Fest is an all hands on deck celebration of our youngest residents and visitors with something to enjoy for all who attend," Mayor Don Walters said. "From the Summer Reading Program at our Cuyahoga Falls Library to the vast array of activities for kids and families that are offered through our Parks and Recreation Department and at the Riverfront YMCA, our phenomenal community partners work every day to help improve the quality of life for our youngest people."

The Cuyahoga Falls Library is sponsoring HeartBEAT Afrika, an interactive percussion band that will headline the event at the Downtown Amphitheater stage from 6 to 8 p.m. They will also have live readers for story time in the Pavilion.

"Libraries transform communities. Libraries encourage community collaboration. Libraries inspire reading. After all, children learn to read before they read to learn," said Cuyahoga Falls Library Director Valerie Kocin. "Summertime is the perfect time to celebrate children, learning and fun. Cuyahoga Falls Library is thrilled to be a Kids Fest partner."

Western Reserve Hospital will give away free bike helmets while supplies last.

Caf O'Play will be on site with a ball pit, and Home Depot will conduct a DIY kids' workshop.

Guardians Advocating Child Safety and Protection will provide kids' identification and fingerprinting kits. The event will also feature meet-and-greet character appearances from 5-7 p.m. by the Snow Queen, the Akron Rubber Ducks, Wheelie from the Akron Racers, the Minions, the Chick-fil-A cow and more.

The Riverfront YMCA will have an interactive play area, with robotics from Sylvan nearby. There will also be face painting and storytelling by Lindsay Bonilla and Wandering Aesthetics. Arts and crafts will be provided by Collide Cuyahoga Falls, the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and Weathervane Playhouse. Cuyahoga Falls and Woodridge School Districts will provide exciting activities and games.

Kids Fest is the second of four summer events presented by the city, hospital and Cascade Auto Group that is part of a series called Falls Downtown Fridays. The next two events are First Responders Appreciation, June 30 from 5-11 p.m.; and Taste of Cuyahoga Falls, July 14 from 5-11 p.m.

In addition, Cuyahoga Falls Oktoberfest will take place July 7-9 and Festa Italiana will be July 21-23.
