Car show set for June 25

Knights of Columbus car, truck and motorcycle show will be held June 25 from 1 to 5 p.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church (next to Water Works Park), 1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls. There will be trophies, prizes, food, 50/50 raffle and music by DJ Bob Allen. Spectators are free and car registration is $10. Stow Historical Society Meeting

The Stow Historical Society will be having the monthly general meeting on June 26 at Stow City Hall in the City Council Chambers at 3760 Darrow Road, Stow, beginning at 7 p.m.

The June speaker will be local resident and author Barbara Baltrinic. She will be discussing her latest book, "A Patriot's Price (The Fighting Clarks Book 2)" about Abraham Clark's son, Andrew's ventures into war armed with his sense of patriotism and strong values especially when he is captured and placed on the British prison ship, H.M.S. Jersey. General Public and all members are welcome to attend and enjoy the experience. Refreshments will be served. County executive to address Lions

On June 27, the Stow Munroe Falls Lions Club will welcome Ilene Shapiro, Summit County's first female county executive and the first woman in Ohio to assume this position. After serving on Summit County Council for 10 years and as Council president for 2 1/2 years, she was next in line to fill this top county position when then Executive Russ Pry died suddenly in July of 2016. Successfully winning the November election, Shapiro will give a county update covering her time in office.

All are invited to hear and meet Shapiro at 6:30 p.m. at On Tap on Kent Road in Stow. There will be a short business meeting, followed by dinner (complimentary of the Lions Club), after which Ms. Shapiro will give her presentation.

Vendors sought for Paw Fest

The 11th Annual Paw Fest ("A Dog's Day of Fun") is planned for Sept. 17 at Stow's Bow Wow Beach Dog Park, 5027 Stow Road. Along with the support of the city of Stow, the sponsoring Stow-Munroe Falls Lions Club members will be ready to entertain all canines and their owners.

Kiwanis meet twice a month

The Stow-Munroe Falls Kiwanis Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for a luncheon meeting.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

All Kiwanis meetings begin at noon and usually end by 1:15 p.m. The cost is $15. Instead of a luncheon, the Kiwanis members will be attending the Pride Breakfast on June 28.

Anyone who is interested in the meeting topic or Kiwanis itself is encouraged to attend.

The Alzheimer's Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter makes Alzheimer's caregiver support groups available free of charge, open to all caregivers, family members, and friends with a loved with affected by the disease or another form of dementia.

First Tuesday: June 6, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls.

Last Tuesday: June 27, at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 85 Heritage Drive, Tallmadge.

Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous (FA) is a free Twelve Step recovery program for anyone suffering from food obsession, overeating, under-eating, or bulimia.
