The Portage County Soap Box Derby is coming up June 17 on High Street in Mantua. The course starts at the top of the hill and passes Buchert Park. Rain date is June 18.
Stock, super stock and master's divisions will be contested, with more than three dozen youngsters ages 7 to 17 competing. The winners of each division will move on to the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron on July 22.

The All-American Soap Box Derby began in 1934 in Dayton, then moved the following year to Tallmadge Avenue in Akron. The current Derby Downs was built in 1936.
