Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio announced in a May 30 release that Mark A. Birtha, president of the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park, will join the affiliate's board of directors. The board is looking forward to expanding its partnership with the Rocksino, the release stated.

Birtha's career has spanned more than 20 years in both operations and development at leading casino and hotel companies including Mirage Resorts, Las Vegas Sands, Marriott International and Starwood, the release stated.

With the motto, "Love All Serve All," the Rocksino has supported the local community with over $2 million in charitable donations since opening in December, 2013, the release stated. In 2016, the Rocksino's efforts resulted in a donation to Susan G. Komen of $100,000 to support their research and awareness efforts.

Susan G. Komen aims to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026.
