NORDONIA HILLS -- Are you in business for yourself and based at home?

Whether you are a manufacturer, artist, consultant, independent retailer or other home-based entrepreneur, the Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce is inviting you to get in touch.

Nordonia Hills Chamber CEO Laura Sparano said the chamber is in the process of organizing a group for home-based business owners as a way to help them succeed.

"We're calling it Chamber Connect," she said. "It's about connecting home-based businesses to each other and to the chamber," she said.

"I think that a lot of chambers aren't actually reaching the home-based businesses," she said. "They really need to get together with people with similar problems, similar challenges and successes. They need a place to connect with other people who are going through the same thing.

"Meeting with other people in the same situation can only help them, make them grow," she added.

Sparano said plans are for the group to have monthly meetings where topics of particular relevance to home-based businesses will be presented.

"We're going to bring in presenters for taxes, for insurance. They are going to talk about branding," she said, adding the speakers will all be familiar with subjects of relevance to home-based businesses.

Because the entire purpose of the chamber is to help small businesses succeed, Sparano said the meetings will also serve as a way to show off benefits the chamber can provide, along with essential networking with fellow businesses with similar needs. Quarterly business after hours events for additional casual networking are also planned, she said.

Those interested in participating in the group are invited to contact Sparano at Send your name, business, and address in the email. The first scheduled meeting is Aug. 16 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Chamber Office, 159 E. Aurora Road in Northfield Center. Call the Chamber office at 330-467-8956 for more information.
