CUYAHOGA FALLS -- The village of Silver Lake's chief of police is reportedly going to be out of work for six to 10 weeks following a recent traffic crash in the city.
Village Police Chief John T. Conley, 57, of Cuyahoga Falls, was driving north on State Road in his 1997 Jeep Wrangler when a 2007 Chrysler Sebring driven by a 70-year-old Akron woman turned onto State Road from Peoplecare Park Drive and was struck by Conley, according to the report.
The crash occurred on May 31 at 3:55 p.m., according to the Falls police report.
Both drivers were transported by the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department to Akron City Hospital for incapacitating injuries. The Akron woman was cited for right of way at an intersection, according to the report. Conley was not cited in the crash.
Silver Lake Police Lt. Steve Justice told Village Council on June 5 that Conley broke his right ankle in two places and dislocated it. Lt. Justice noted while the prognosis for recovery is six to 10 weeks, he said Conley told him he hopes to return in six weeks.
Lt. Justice told the Falls News-Press that he will be in charge of day-to-day operations at the department during Conley's absence.
