The nonprofit Partners for Theater will present Summit StageFest, a free, one-day outdoor theater festival at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 3, along West Market Street in Highland Square. The event is meant to raise public awareness and grow audiences for the area's many theater companies through the performances of short plays, scenes, monologues. Participating organizations include Weathervane Playhouse, Coach House Theatre, New World Performance Lab, Magical Theatre Company, Ohio Shakespeare Festival, The Illusion Factory, and Rubber City Shakespeare.

Booths representing theater groups, other performing arts organizations and vendors will be set up from Portage Path to Casterton Ave. The festival is sponsored by Acme Fresh Market and FirstEnergy. Former judge and Summit Metro Parks Commissioner Jane Bond, a West Akron resident, and an avid fan of live theater, is behind an effort. She recently started Partners for Theater. More information on volunteer opportunities, vendor booth space and performances are available at summitstagefest.org or 234-206-0603.
