AKRON, OHIO – The Blick Center held its first annual fundraising event, "Blick to the Future," on Friday, May 12 at The Tangier in Akron. The event raised nearly $30,000 to benefit The Blick Center, supporting the important services that they provide throughout Summit County.

"This event was a huge success and exceeded our expectations," said Karin Lopper-Orr, executive director for The Blick Center. "The night was full of fun and excitement, all for a great cause! We are truly grateful for all of the support that we received from the community."

Over 150 attendees dressed in prom themed attire representing the decades from 1950-2000, and were given handmade corsages and boutonnieres created by Blick clients. The night included a live auction courtesy of Larry Janchar, great food from The Tangier and entertainment by the band Disco Inferno.

Another highlight from the event included a moving story shared by Julie Richards, parents of a Blick Center client.

"Julie’s story demonstrated the impact that The Blick Center’s services have on individuals and their families," said Lopper-Orr. "We are grateful for her willingness to share her story with the attendees."

The Blick Center extends a special thank you to John and Betty Dalton for being the Honorary Co-Chairs and Title Sponsors of the event, and event chairperson Leighann K. Fink of Roetzel and Andress. Additionally, the Blick Center thanks the Board of Trustees, center volunteers, community volunteers, Barb Green of Common Good Consulting Inc., Katie Widness of WWBD Consulting LLC. and Tiffany Jamison of The Impact Group.

"We are extremely thankful for all of the individuals who helped with this event," said Lopper-Orr. "Without their hard work and dedication, none of this would be possible. We look forward to another great event next spring, so be sure to mark your calendars!"
