More than 500 people attended Wheels on the Runway, a fundraiser to benefit a Sagamore Hills family and United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland May 6.
The event was held at the Twinsburg Hilton Garden Inn and was comprised of an early Mother's Day brunch, and a youth fashion show in which all the models had disabilities.
Raffles and door prizes were also a part of the festivities.
Kim Bosze, one of the facilitators of the event and recipient of funds raised, said the day was about the children, who warmed the hearts of the crowd.
"The event was so much better than we hoped," she said. "The faces on all the children were priceless. They were beaming from ear to ear the entire time and there wasn't a dry eye in the place."
While a final total wasn't available yet, Bosze said almost $18,000 was raised the day of the event.
Kim and her husband Joe, have three children, two of whom are affected by cerebral palsy. Porter, 8, was diagnosed at 8-months-old while the couple's youngest, Emersyn, 2, was diagnosed around 6-months-old.
Funds raised at Wheels on the Runway will not only help the Boszes but many other children and families from United Cerebral Palsy.
Bosze said they are "very grateful for the community's support."
