Several road projects this week and later this month in Portage County will cause traffic delays in Kent, Streetsboro and Nelson.

Starting May 18, Route 14 over Lake Rockwell in Streetsboro will be reduced to one lane of traffic for two days for sealing of the recently replaced causeway bridge, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Flaggers will maintain the lane through May 20, with restrictions occurring nightly between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., ODOT said.

In Kent, Route 261 between Franklin Avenue and Mogadore Road will be closed starting at 6 a.m. May 30, and continuing throughout 6 a.m. June 1, for bridge repairs. The detour is East Howe Road to Route in Tallmadge to Route 59 to Route 43, ODOT said.

Until further notice, Route 261 in Kent east of Mogadore Road will continue to have various lane restrictions for bridge repairs, part of a $1.8 million repair project to the S.R. 261 bridge over Plum Creek. That project is scheduled for completion in late September, according to ODOT.

Also starting May 30, until further notice, eastbound Route 422 will remain closed or have travel restrictions between the Geauga and Trumbull county lines for four culvert replacements and resurfacing, part of a $700,000 project scheduled to be completed in late July, ODOT said.
