1 BUY A POPPY TO SUPPORT VETERANS:

Northfield VFW Post 6768 and the Auxiliary to VFW Post 6768 will be holding their annual Poppy Drive at Tractor Supply, 2011 Alexandria Drive in Macedonia on May 19 and 20. The VFW and Auxiliary representatives will be in the parking lot in the VFW tent distributing poppies to all. Any donation for a poppy will go directly to the Macedonia Veterans Memorial Park Fundraising efforts. The VFW and Auxiliary appreciate Tractor Supply for its support of the VFW and the Poppy Drive.

The goal is to have every person who attends the upcoming Northfield/Macedonia Memorial Day Parade on May 29 to wear a poppy for the 10 a.m. parade.

2 VISIT THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM:

The Historical Society of Olde Northfield announces that the Palmer House Museum will be open for visitors on May 21, from 2 to 4 p.m., and on May 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. The summer schedule for the museum is from 2 to 4 p.m. on June 11 and 25; July 9 and 23; and Aug. 13 and 27.

3 DUMP SOME OLD CLOTHES:

Easter Seals Northern Ohio is partnering with the Nordonia High School baseball program to give back to the community while helping children and adults with disabilities. NHS Baseball is hosting a "Fill the Truck" fundraiser to benefit the freshman, junior varsity and varsity baseball teams. Donations of cloth items are sought. The Easter Seals bins will be located at the high school and middle school through May 22. To schedule pickup, call Jillian Heiser at 216-538-3577 or Denise Varner at 216-789-3051. NHS Baseball will be compensated based on the number of bags/pounds of cloth/hard goods collected. Acceptable items include (but are not limited to): clothing, comforters, blankets, towels, sheets, shoes, accessories, and purses. NHS BB will earn 20 cents per pound from those types of cloth donations listed. Donations are resold at Easter Seals Thrift shops. All donors will receive a tax-deductible receipt. 4 GO FOR A FUN RUN:

Four local students -- Jennifer Tomak, Claire Kremyar, Taniah Thomas and Caroline Orzochowski -- who call themselves the Simply Hygiene team, are planning a 5K fun run/walk to support the Emergency Assistance Center with donations of personal hygeine items. The fun run/walk will be May 21 at Nordonia High School. The event will include the 5K fun run, a kids' one-mile run, and a family one-mile walk. The event is open to all families, and all proceeds will benefit the hygiene section of the Emergency Assistance Center.
