Falls Downtown Fridays, a summer entertainment series taking place on the riverfront starting in June, according to Mayor Don Walters.

The series is being presented by the city of Cuyahoga Falls, Western Reserve Hospital and Cascade Auto Group. The events are Bebop on the Block, Kids Fest, First Responders Appreciation, and Taste of the Falls.

"We remain committed to the rebirth of our downtown through the Downtown Transformation Project to provide new economic opportunities for our city," stated Mayor Walters. "Our events and festivals are imperative to enhancing our downtown. We are excited about this new venture and look forward to seeing residents and visitors at these amazing events this summer."

"We are proud to continue our close partnership with the City of Cuyahoga Falls and look forward to this new community-focused series of events," said Dr. Robert Kent, president and CEO, Western Reserve Hospital. "Our organization is built on local, loyal ties, and we are delighted to support the continued growth and vitality of the town we call home."

The city saw phenomenal success through the Cuyahoga Falls Better Block event. A survey was conducted during and after the event, that revealed that residents want family friendly events and activities on the riverfront, that focus on local retail and food vendors, with an eclectic array of entertainment, according to a city news release.

Bebop on the Block is a jazz, food, and craft-cocktail festival that will take place June 16 from 5-11 p.m. Kids Fest is an evening of fun for the children in the community and will feature musical entertainment, crafts, and interactive play. Kids Fest will take place June 23, from 4-8 p.m. First Responder Appreciation is a night to honor the area safety services and will include an awards ceremony to recognize area police officers and firefighters who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. The event will be headlined by local country band and area favorite Buck Naked Band on June 30, and will run from 5-11 p.m. Finally, Taste of the Falls will provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy an assortment of some of the community's best food and drinks. The event is July 14 from 5-11 p.m.

Festivals on the riverfront will continue and are scheduled as follows: The Riverfront Irish Festival, June 9-11; Oktoberfest, July 7-9; and Festa Italiana, July 21-23. Following Festa Italiana, construction on the south end of the pedestrian mall will begin to open Front Street to vehicular traffic.
