OhioCAN (Change Addiction Now) will host its fourth annual Steps of Change event on May 20 from noon to 4 p.m. at Bolich Middle School's Laybourne Field, 2630 13th St.

The event will happen rain or shine.

Change Addiction Now is a non-profit organization sponsored through The Hub For Direct Community Action.

At this event, the organization will be educating, embracing and empowering families and individuals whose lives have been impacted through substance use, according to an event news release. The event is focused on bringing the family voice to addiction and recovery.

At noon, there will be a Walk a Mile in My Shoe Memorial to remember people who lost their lives to drug overdoses in 2015 and 2016. There will also be educational tables, speakers and gift baskets.

The speakers will include judges, people who lost their loved ones to addiction and people who are currently recovering from drug addiction.

More than 30 gift baskets will be raffled off with the proceeds going to the Summit County ADM Board to make blessing bags for people coming out of detox, according to event organizer Gail Miller.

Additionally, members of Rachel's Angels will walk in memory of Rachel DeMaio, a Woodridge High School student who died Oct. 28, 2016 after her family said she used a drug containing Carfentanil.

Face painting and balloon animals will be offered for children.
