Crooked River Chorale Women's Ensemble, under the direction of Bob Mollard, will host a concert titled "Awakenings" May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2726 W. Market St. in Fairlawn. The concert is free and open to the public.
The voices of the chorale will blend in three- and four-part harmonies with inspiring pieces such as "A Celtic Blessing of Light" by Eleanor Daley, "The Poet Sings" by Z. Randall Stroope and "Cantate Domino" by Hans Leo Hassler and arranged by Russell Robinson.
Crooked River Chorale singers are selected by director's invitation or vocal interview.
The chorale sings the whole choral spectrum, from religious and secular classics to modern works, popular music, spirituals, jazz, and regional and folk favorites.
Beth Thomas of Tallmadge sings with the chorale.
Founder/Artistic Director Mollard is also principal keyboardist for the Akron Symphony Orchestra, principal keyboardist for the Akron Baroque Orchestra, principal organist/choir director at Faith Lutheran Church in Fairlawn, pianist in the duo MOCA with cellist Greg Fiocca, and he sings with Singers Companye, a professional chorus.
