CUYAHOGA FALLS -- The Cuyahoga Falls City School District has a new treasurer following a unanimous vote by the Board of Education during a special meeting on April 19.

Justin M. Klingshirn of Avon, a manager for the Ohio Auditor's Office out of Cleveland, was given a contract following a closed-door meeting of the Board that lasted about an hour.

"I think it's a great opportunity for myself and my family," Klingshirn said following the special meeting. "I'm looking forward to the challenge and I look forward to working with the superintendent and the Board of Education."

Klingshirn attended the Board's regular meeting that same evening. President Karen Schofield introduced him to those in attendance. "Welcome, Justin, and we're happy you're a Black Tiger," she said.

"So am I," Klingshirn responded. Klingshirn, 36, told the Falls News-Press his starting annual salary is $85,000, he said. His contract will run from June 1, 2017, to July 31, 2020, according to Schofield.

"I am thrilled to have him on board," Board Member Barbara Gunter remarked during the meeting. "I'm so excited I can't wait for him to get started. June 1 can't come quick enough." After the meeting, Gunter said she knew Klingshirn was the right choice when she read his cover letter and saw that he researched the district before his first interview.

"Welcome to our family," Board Member David Martin told him.

Klingshirn replaces David Hoskin who resigned last year to accept the position of treasurer with the Ravenna City School District in Portage County.

During its regular meeting April 19, the Falls School Board unanimously approved an employment contract with Hoskin effective April 19 to assist the district's interim treasurer, Kathryn Brugger, in completing tasks required by the state and due by school year's end, according to Brugger.

Klingshirn has been a performance project manager for the state auditor since 2011, according to his resume that he provided to the Board. Prior to that time he worked as an operations manager from 2005 to 2011 for The Brickman Group of Avon. Before that, he was an insurance agent for Cornerstone in Independence for part of 2003.

He received his bachelor's degree in business management from Capital University in Columbus. He furthered his education at Ashland University's School of Law and its School of Finance, and he's attended a number of Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) training seminars.
