A scrap tire collection event will be April 29 at ReWorks' Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center located at 1201 Graham Road in Stow from 9 to 11 a.m. Summit County residents are invited to drop off unwanted passenger car and light truck sized tires for a cash fee of only $1 per tire. There is a limit of 10 tires per vehicle.

Recycling a tire not only diverts it from a landfill, but it gains new life as the basis of innovative, eco-friendly products. ReWorks contracts with Lightner Tires, a Summit County business based here since 1963, to provide scrap tire recycling services. Recycled tires can find their way into turf, asphalt rubber and synthetic sports fields' surfaces.

The event is for Summit County residents only. No businesses. No household hazardous waste will be collected at this event.

If you are unable to attend this event, scrap tires will be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center during regular hours of operation, which are 2 to 7 p.m. Call them directly at 330-724-7436 for additional information.
