1 -- Support academic success

2 -- Attend high school sports contests

There are a multitude of spring sports activities involving Aurora Greenmen teams. High school spring sports are baseball, softball, track and field and boys tennis. Track and field is the only sport offered at Harmon School. One particularly significant event coming up April 13 is the Aurora Invitational track and field meet hosted by AHS and taking place at Veterans Stadium. Events get under way at 4 p.m. Always be aware that outdoor spring sports are sometimes postponed or canceled because of the weather.

3 -- Attend Holy Week services

Local churches are hosting a variety of services during Holy Week, culminating with Easter Sunday services. Some churches host Maundy Thursday services and some have scheduled Good Friday services. Check the Advocate's "Faith & Religion section in print and/or online or visit a specific church's website for service times. Keep in mind that because of the Easter weekend, Aurora schools are closed April 14 and 17.

4 -- Show interest in city government

Stop by Town Hall on April 19 to see what projects and issues the city's planning commission are discussing. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. The planning commission reviews residential, commercial and industrial projects, conducts public hearings on projects and decides whether certain variances will be allowed for developers and landowners requesting them. The panel usually meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
