1 MAKE TIME TO READ:
Celebrate National Library Week with the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library! Check out 10 or more items during National Library Week (Sunday, April 9 - Saturday, April15), and enter to win a reading-themed key chain. Winners will be drawn on Monday, April 17.
2 HIKE THE GORGE:
Hike the rugged Gorge Trail and learn about the nature and history of the Cuyahoga River on April 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Gorge Metro Park / Main Entrance, 1160 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls.
3 REGISTRATION STARTING FOR STOW'S SAFETY TOWN:
Safety Town is a safety education program for children who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall. Any child who will be 5 on or before Aug. 1st and lives in the city of Stow is eligible to attend. The sessions will be held for one week (Monday-Friday) for 2.5 hours per day. The curriculum is varied and includes such topics as fire safety, safety belts, pedestrian safety, bike safety, bus safety, stranger awareness, and playground safety. Safety Town employs two full-time certified teachers to plan and lead the daily educational process. They are assisted by the Education Specialists from the Stow Fire and Police Departments, as well as other outside safety experts. The cost is $40 per student per class.Students need only sign up for one class. Deadline to register is May 12.
4 WHAT ARE YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS DISCUSSING?:
The Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education will have a work session April 10 at 5 p.m. at central offices.
Munroe Falls City Council committees will meet April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Council chambers.
Stow City Council will meet April 13 at 7 p.m. in Council chambers. Committee meetings will precede the regular Council meeting.
5 AN AFTERNOON WITH PUPS AND BOOKS:
Kids in grades kindergarten through sixth can read to therapy dogs on Sunday, April 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library. This helps children build confidence in their reading ability with this impartial audience. No registration required. Sign up for a 15-minute time slot when you arrive. Bring your favorite book or choose one of ours.
