Legion picks 2 for

Girls State in June

American Legion Post 803's women's auxiliary is sending two girls to Buckeye Girls State this summer -- Marina Nelson of Aurora High and Cameron Russell of Hawken Upper School.

They will be among 900 girls participating in the 70th annual session of Buckeye Girls State from June 11-17 at the University of Mount Union in Alliance.

The main objective of the Girls State program is to train young women who have completed their junior year in high school in the duties, rights and privileges of citizenship by providing the opportunity to actively participate in a democratic form of government.

The women's auxiliary meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Aurora Memorial Library's gallery. For more information, call President Becky Sharp at 330-562-0413.
