A Mantua mother of three has been charged with two felonies after allegedly stealing more than $2,400 from the Crestwood Intermediate School Parent Teacher Organization over a more than four-month period last fall.

Christy A. Bowne, 43, was indicted March 23 by a Portage County grand jury on one count each of theft and misuse of a credit card, both fifth-degree felonies.

Bowne pleaded not guilty March 27 in Portage County Common Pleas Court, and was released on a personal recognizance bond. Judge Laurie Pittman set an initial trial date for July 18.

Between Aug. 25, 2016, and Jan. 6,2017, Bowne allegedly used a debit card belonging to the PTO to make at least 14 unauthorized transactions at the Cortland Bank in Mantua Township.

A Portage County sheriff's detective determined the total loss to the PTO was $2,408.20. Bowne was arrested March 21, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.
