Bike trail under construction

Cuyahoga Valley National Park has begun construction of a 6.5 mile extension of the 2.3-mile section of the East Rim mountain bike trail, which opened a year ago. "Phase 2," now with full funding to bring on a trail design expert, is due for completion in spring 2018, the conservancy announced March 28.

The funding was raised by the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the park's nonprofit friends group, in partnership with the Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association. A joint fundraising campaign matched individual donations with a $10,000 gift from an anonymous CAMBA member, raising over $20,000 from 84 people, the Conservancy stated in a press release.

The next steps include creating the inner connector line, as well as a possible bouldering route off the existing trail.
