The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter will have its annual "Paint the Night Purple" benefit dinner and auction on April 29, at the Sheraton Suites Cuyahoga Falls, 1989 Front St. Presented for a second year by The House of LaRose, the evening will get underway with cocktails and silent auction at 6 p.m., with dinner and live auction 7:15 p.m.

Paint the Night Purple offers an elegant experience with fine dining, entertainment, and live and silent auctions to support the Alzheimer’s Association and the much needed programs and services offered locally to the residents of Summit, Stark, Portage and Medina counties.

"Over 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia," says David Grams, interim executive director of the Association’s local chapter with offices in Hudson and Canton. "Without a scientific breakthrough to prevent or treat Alzheimer’s, more than 28 million baby boomers will develop the disease by midcentury. The Alzheimer’s Association raises funds to support that research, as well as offer support to families affected."

Nearly 30,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s disease in Summit, Stark, Portage and Medina counties. The Alzheimer’s Association estimates that for every individual with the disease, three family members or friends are providing unpaid care as caregivers.

Cocktail attire is requested. This year, the Association will also be introducing mobile bidding, so that guests can review items and bid from their mobile device throughout the evening.
