'Music for the Young at Heart' program for Woman's Club
Judy Brown will perform "Music for the Young at Heart" at the Stow Woman's Club meeting on April 6 at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church at the corner of routes 59 and 91.
Brown has more than 30 years of performance experience. She sang with Johnny Singer's society band for more than eight years performing for Princess Margaret, Presidents Ford, Carter and Reagan and Bob Hope, to name a few. She has sung the national anthem for the Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. In Los Angeles she sang for the Lakers, Dodgers and Angels.
She has performed in stage productions with Don Ameche and Rip Taylor. She studied at The Groundlings Theatre with Kathy Griffin during the theater's heyday, doing improv on Melrose in Los Angeles with Will Farrell, Lisa Kudrow, Jon Lovitz and Midy Sterling. Her motion picture credits include "The Escape Artist," "Surrender," "Dutch Treat" and "A Christmas Story."
Moving to Cleveland in 2001, she produced, hosted and directed her highly acclaimed TV series, "Only Ohio," that aired on all 12 Ohio PBS stations. She lived in Hudson with her two children, Kate and Ben, who are now in college.
Hosteses for the day are Cheryl Crowe, Diane Wright, Sarah Crawford, Carol Fawcett and Jana Crawford. Margrit Porteria will be the greeter. The program is free and open to all.
Stow Woman's Club is a 115-year-old philanthropic organization. Membership is $22 per year. The club meets the first Thursday in October-December and February-April. New members are welcome and can reside in communities other than Stow.
Fundraiser at Chipotle for Bulldog Bags
Bulldog Bags, a weekend food program for eligible children in the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District, will have a fundraiser on April 3 from 5-9 p.m. at Chipotle at 4338 Kent Road in Stow. Bring your family and tell the cashier you're supporting the cause. Chipotle will donate 50 percent of the revenue during that time period to Bulldog Bags.

Stow Historical Society Meeting
Stow Historical Society will have a Membership meeting in Stow City Hall's Council Chambers starting at 7 p.m. on April 24. Laura Peskin will present a program on education, transportation, women's history and more near Summit County.

Bible journaling class
A free Bible journaling class will be offered at Stow-Munroe Falls public library from April 15 to May 20 every Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Come for fun and creativity while spending time in God's word. RSVP to Ann Murray at 330-686-1396.
Season passes are on sale for lake swimming in two Metro Parks.
Passes offer access to the beach areas in Munroe Falls Metro Park in Munroe Falls and Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, May 27 through Aug. 13. Both areas are open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and holidays, during swim season.
Pre-season passes for Summit County residents are $25 for adults and teens, $10 for ages 2 to 12 and seniors 65 and older. The out-of-county rate is $30 for adults and teens, $15 for ages 2 to 12 and seniors 65 and older. After May 26, season pass rates increase by $5. A person's age at the time of purchase determines the rate. Kids under 2 are always admitted free.

Fish dinners at Holy Family Church
The Knights of Columbus will offer its Annual Lenten Fish Frys each Friday during Lent through April 7. Cost for each dinner is $8.50. Menu items include entrees of Baked Tilapia, Fried Beer Battered Cod, Jumbo Butterfly Shrimp, Mac & Cheese and Cheese Pizza. A choice of any two side dishes are included: French Fries, Hush Puppies, Seasoned Rice, Mac & Cheese, Pierogies, Salad, Cole Slaw, or Veggie Pie. Coffee & Punch are provided along with a Roll and Butter. Also available are bottled water, soft drinks and assorted dessert items at a nominal charge. Dinners will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Lower Church Hall of Holy Family Church at 3179 Kent Road in Stow.
Society seeking vendors for Harvest Festival

Kiwanis meet twice a month
The Stow-Munroe Falls Kiwanis Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for a luncheon meeting.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
All Kiwanis meetings begin at noon and usually end by 1:15 p.m. The cost is $15. The next luncheon will be April 12 at Joshua's restaurant at Stow-Munroe Falls High School. SMFHS students who attended the Close Up program in Washington, D.C. will be the guest speakers.
