NEW CONCORD -- The occupants of a Ford Mustang escaped serious injury late Wednesday morning during a collision with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70.
According to Lt. James Tracy of the Cambridge post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the driver of the eastbound Ford lost control while attempting to pass a tractor-trailer and struck a second tractor-trailer in the driving lane at milepost 173 between Cambridge and New Concord.
Tracy said witnesses claimed the driver of the Mustang was traveling well in excess of the posted speed limit of 70 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
Both occupants of the Mustang were transported to Southeastern Med. Tracy described their injuries as "minor."
The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
The Ford Mustang sustained extensive damage.
No damage report was available for the tractor-trailer.
Additional information including the names of the motorists involved in the accident was not available as of press time, according to a patrol dispatcher.
The accident remained under investigation by the Cambridge post.
