Aurora High senior Gia Leone is the district's choice to serve on the Portage County Teen Board this school year. Board members are selected based on their leadership, school activities and a principal recommendation.

The Teen Board will be honored, along with students of the month, at an honors breakfast in May.

Leone is the daughter of Dave and Lisa Leone. She has been a member of the girls golf team for four years (captain her senior year), has been a member of Student Council for four years, was a freshman mentor and a member of the Science Olympiad in 10th to 12th grades.

She is first chair cellist in an orchestra ensemble, was a sixth-grade camp counselor for three years, is in the tutoring program, baby-sits two or three times a week for four families, occasionally reads to her mom's third-grade class and plays with an orchestra group at various nursing homes.

Her awards / honors include West Point leadership award in 2016, most improved golfer in 2013, most valuable player (golf) in 2015 and director's choice award in 2013 and 2016.

Leone's hobbies include reading books, running and golfing, playing the cello, guitar and piano and singing.
