Nordonia Middle School hosted hundreds of family members as seventh- and eighth-graders performed at the March 1 Winter Band Concert.
Following performances by the seventh-grade and Eighth-grad jazz ensembles, as well as the seventh-grade band, the eighth-grade band took the stage and welcomed 2004 Nordonia High School graduate John Pasternak, who conducted the band in a performance of his first published work, "Dark Matter."
Pasternak has directed and composed for community ensembles through the Cleveland area since 2003 and is a graduate of Kent State University, where he composed and conducted work for KSU ensembles and was staff arranger for the Kent State Marching Golden Flashes.
He is currently a band director for the Warrensville Heights City School District and Cleveland Letter Carriers Band. See a video of the performance at www.the-news-leader.com.
