Village of Silver Lake officials announced this past week that residents and small businesses should soon receive a mailer concerning the natural gas aggregation program offer from Constellation Energy Services-Natural Gas LLC. Residents and small businesses currently participating in the village's natural gas program will receive a notice informing them of the new rate of $3.636/mcf for gas consumed from April 2017 through March 2018. These customers do not need to do anything to remain in the program and receive the new rate, according to a news release from the village.
"While somewhat higher than our most recent rate of $2.85/mcf, it is still a very attractive and competitive rate," said Mayor Bernie Hovey to the Falls News-Press on Monday.
Newly eligible account holders who receive their gas supply from Dominion East Ohio will receive an opt-out notice from Constellation explaining the rate, terms and conditions, and methods for opting out of the village's aggregation program. These accounts will be added to the program unless they opt out as indicated in the letter.
"We are pleased to have been able to secure this low rate for our residents and businesses," said Hovey. "This rate provides price protection for an entire year and gives customers the ability to opt out free of charge at any time for any reason."
"Constellation is proud to continue to provide residents and small businesses in the Village of Silver Lake with price certainty and the same hassle-free experience we offer all customers," said Kevin Klages, SVP Mass Markets for Constellation."As a longtime competitive energy supplier in Ohio, we look forward to supplying natural gas to Silver Lake's residential and small business customers."
There are two ways new customers can join the village's program. First, residents and small businesses may call Constellation at 844-467-5249. Second, customers may join the program online at www.Constellation.com/oh-SilverLake.
Customers served by another supplier should be aware of the obligations in their existing contract before joining the village's program, as many suppliers charge a penalty for early termination. Customers wishing to join the program must be in good standing with their bill payment and cannot be part of the utility's percentage of income payment program (PIPP).
Village officials ask that residents contact Constellation directly regarding questions about the program.
