Register for Mother's Day 5K
The 6th annual Mother's Day 5K is May 14 at 8 a.m., at Munroe Falls Metro Park (521 S. River Road, Munroe Falls), where participants can run, jog or walk to celebrate Mom.
Take advantage of discounted pricing by registering early.
For ages 15 and older, registration is $35/person through March 31.
For ages 15 and older, registration is $45/person April 1 through April 30.
Runners 14 and younger are free, but they must be registered in advance.
Registration is not required for children in strollers.
Proceeds benefit the park district's outreach and community programs.
The asphalt course, which travels twice around the park's scenic lake, is not ADA compliant, but wheelchair athletes and jogging strollers are welcome. Timing is provided by North Coast MultiSports.

Blanketeers seek donations of yarn
The Stow Blanketeers meet the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. The Stow Blanketeers knit and crochet blankets which are donated to local shelters.
This dedicated and industrious group of ladies who makeup the group are in need of community support. They would welcome donated yarns and/or cash contributions to purchase material.

Recovery program for people with food issues
Are you having trouble controlling the way you eat? Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous (FA) is a free Twelve Step recovery program for anyone suffering from food obsession, overeating, under-eating, or bulimia.
There are three area meetings:
Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Western Reserve Hospital, 1900 23rd St., Cuyahoga Falls (Enter through the Falls Family Practice entrance at the back of the hospital)
Saturdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Christ Community Chapel, 750 W Streetsboro Road (303), Hudson (Enter door#2 - In basement Room 16)
Sundays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, 565 N Cleveland-Massillon Road, Akron (Lower level, Room 5)

Lupus support group meets monthly
The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter hosts a monthly lupus support group the first Wednesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stow-Munroe Falls Library, 3512 Darrow Road, in Stow. The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter also hosts a monthly call-in support group. Call 1-888-NO-LUPUS or visit LupusGreaterOhio.org to register and receive the call-in information.
The support group is an open, small-group environment that encourages discussion among lupus patients and their families. It is a place where people with lupus can share their experiences and ask questions. Most discussions focus on the "how-to's" of living with a chronic illness. It is a safe place for people to learn, share and help. Light refreshments will be provided.
