Gardening series set for March 4, 11
The Master Gardener Volunteers of Summit County cordially invites all gardeners to attend the 2017 Saturday Gardening Series.With two full days of informative gardening presentations, the Saturday Gardening Series is a sure harbinger of spring.
This year's Saturday Gardening Series will be March 4 and 11 from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (doors open at 8:45) at Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church, 3365 Ridgewood Road in Fairlawn.
Presenting on March 4:
Carol Chernega is the author of "A Dream House: Exploring the Literary Homes of England" and has been published in a variety of magazines including Pennsylvania Gardener and National Wildlife. Chernega will be speaking on "How to Design an English Garden" and, in a second session, on "Pruning Shrubs."
Bill Zawiski is the supervisor of the Water Quality Group in the Ohio EPA Northeast District office. Zawiski will talk to us about "Lake Erie, Our Watery Friend to the North."
Lisa Pfeifer is the educational program manager for the Agricultural Safety and Health Program at The Ohio State University. Pfeifer will present on "Gardening as We Age."
Presenting on March 11:
John Niebel is a Stark County master gardener volunteer. Niebel's topic is "Drip Irrigation for Your Home Made Easy."
Donniella Winchell is the executive director of the Ohio Wine Producers Association and chair of their Vintage Ohio wine festival. Winchellwill share her knowledge and expertise in her presentation, "The Wines We Grow...How, Why, Where and What."
Ashley Kulhanek is the agriculture and natural resources extension educator in Medina County. Kulhanek will present "Using Phenology in the Landscape."
Eric Barrett is an assistant professor and the Ohio State University extension educator in Mahoning County. Barrett will discuss "Gardening Myths and Legends."
