Nordonia High School Teen Institute is a youth-led prevention club at Nordonia High School. The program empowers young people to talk to their peers about making healthy decisions and developing strong leadership skills. Annually, the student leaders of Nordonia T.I. host a weekend retreat to train their peers from Nordonia and all over the State of Ohio.

The club would like to invite parents and community members to view live-stream portions of the weekend retreat at Hiram House Camp online. This year's retreat is Feb. 24 to 26. Those interested in viewing the events live from home should go to and search "2017 Nordonia T.I. Winter Retreat Live Stream." Any time there is a live broadcast, the video will be activated. There will be a schedule of live broadcasts posted.

Teen Institute faculty advisor Regina Christy said the annual retreat will focus on youth led prevention, as well as other aspects of the Teen Institute program and its commitment to substance-free living. About 165 students and adults will be participating, with visiting students from around the area -- including Stow and Twinsburg -- in addition to Nordonia Hills students.

"We talk about drug and alcohol use at different levels. The activities that we do for our students to keep them drug and alcohol and tobacco free," she said. "We're trying to showcase our main presentations ... we're hoping people will view our main presentation on Saturday. That will be youth talking to youth."
