Free Balance Screening will be available Feb. 22 between 1 and 3 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St, Hudson. The screening will be conducted by Dr. Lynn Czup of NovaCare Rehabilitation Hudson. The screening will take 15-20 minutes per person and is a valuable way to maintain your health and safety. According to the Ohio Department of Health, falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalization and death among Ohioans ages 65 and older. An older Ohioan falls every minute on average, resulting in an injury every five minutes, an emergency department visit every six minutes, two hospitalization each hour and three deaths each day. Fit and FallProof classes will be at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St, Hudson every Wednesday in March (March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29) from 1 to 2 p.m. This class is a combination of strengthening exercises and balance challenges designed to help each participant lead a healthier, more confident, and more active lifestyle. In order to participate in this class safely, you must be able to walk without an assistive device, be able to get out of a chair by yourself, and be in generally good health. This healthy living educational opportunity is sponsored by Laurel Lake Retirement Community's Community Outreach program. Class is free of charge and taught by certified Personal Trainer and FallProof instructor Jill Rango. A Lunch & Learn for older adults will be March 16 from noon to 1 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St, Hudson. Nancy Sheller of Transitional Design will present. Transitional Design is a Senior Move Manager. They provide downsizing and moving services and specialize in working with the elderly. Other services include estate closeouts, readying a home for sale, and decorating.
