Government offices, schools closed for Presidents Day

Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake government offices and Cuyahoga Falls and Woodridge school districts will be closed Feb. 20 in observance of Presidents Day.

First Memorial Day Parade meeting is Feb. 20

Cuyahoga Falls Memorial Day Parade meetings will take place at the American Legion #281 Charles Faust Post, 1601 Front St.

It is the host post for this year's parade. Meetings are scheduled for: Feb. 20, 7 p.m.; March 20, 7 p.m.; April 17, 7 p.m.; May 21, 2 p.m. (this meeting is mandatory for all parade participants); and June 4, 2 p.m. (wrap-up meeting).

The parade is Monday, May 29 at 9 a.m.

County Councilmember hosts office hours Feb. 23

District 2 Summit County Councilmember John Schmidt will host public office hours on Feb. 23 between 7 and 8:30 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 Third St. Councilman Schmidt will be available to answer questions and hear concerns from constituents. District 2 includes most of the city of Cuyahoga Falls, the city of Munroe Falls, and portions of Akron including East Akron, Goodyear Heights and North Hill.

City Councilman hosts "Coffee with your Councilman" event Feb. 25

Ward 6 City Councilman Adam Miller will have a coffee and conversation meeting on Feb. 25 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Jubilee Donuts, 2686 Front St. Councilman Miller enjoys meeting residents face to face and wants to hear residents' concerns and ideas for Ward 6 and Cuyahoga Falls. Ward 4 Meeting at library Feb. 25

Councilwoman Mary Nichols-Rhodes will host a Ward 4 meeting on Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Cuyahoga Falls Library in the Graefe Room. Topics include Front Street development updates and the Neighborhood Ambassador program.

Silver Lake mayor to give annual address March 6

Silver Lake Mayor Bernie Hovey will deliver his State of the Village address on March 6 at the Village Council meeting at 7 p.m. in Village Hall, 2961 Kent Road.
