RAVENNA -- A former Aurora man who assaulted a store employee during a theft in February 2016 at Aurora Farms Premium Outlets has been sentenced to five years probation on a robbery charge.

John A. Harris, 22, now of Warrensville Heights was sentenced Jan. 26 by Portage County Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman. She ordered him to receive substance abuse and mental health evaluations while on probation, find and keep a full-time job and banned him from the outlets.

Harris also was fined $300 and ordered to pay $354 in court costs, according to Pittman's sentencing order.

Harris pleaded guilty in August 2016 to robbery, a third-degree felony. He faced a maximum of three years in prison for the Feb. 6, 2016, robbery at the Saks Off 5th outlet store at the Aurora outlets.

During the incident, Harris took several pieces of jewelry from the store and left without paying. Confronted by a female loss prevention employee, he grabbed and shoved her rather than being taken to the outlet security office, according to Aurora police.
