Registration for the Sixth Annual Fishcreek Raccoon Run is now open. The Raccoon Run will be on Sunday, April 30, and will consist of a 5K and 1-mile Fun Run centered around the neighborhoods of Fishcreek Elementary School.

The Fishcreek PTA organizes the race to promote health and wellness for their students as well as the community. The Raccoon Run is also a fundraiser for Fishcreek Elementary, and funds raised are used to support health and wellness programs, increase the student's access to technology for educational purposes and ensure the student's safety while in the learning environment. Last year, the PTA was able to provide each teacher with a $750 grant to spend on classroom materials.

Last year's race had 700 registrants from all over Northeast Ohio to compete. This year's timing company will be Western Reserve Racing, which is known for its professionalism and accuracy with timing and reporting of results.

Last year's 5K overall Raccoon Run winner was Jeff Sigmund, with a finish time of 17:03. The first female finished at 20:28, and that recognition went to Tracy Meder.
