Police Reports is a sampling of incidents responded to by the Aurora Police Department. It is not intended to be all-inclusive.

Burglary: An East Boulevard man reported Jan. 25 that someone entered his house through an unlocked door and took undisclosed items worth $130.

Wire theft: A Harris Drive business reported Jan. 28 the theft of copper wire valued at $300.

Fraud: A local resident reported Jan. 28 that fraudulent checks totaling $3,359 were cashed from his business account, which was closed.

Warrant pickup: A Parma woman was transferred from Parma police custody to Aurora on Jan. 26 on a warrant for failing to appear in court for a traffic offense. She was taken to the Portage County Jail.

Shoplifting: Two Streetsboro female juveniles were charged with receiving stolen property and obstructing official business after allegedly taking items from various stores on South Chillicothe Road without paying for them. They tried to run from police but were apprehended and later released to relatives. Value of the stolen merchandise was $432.

Harassment: A Bryce Avenue man reported being harassed by a family member. The suspect was contacted and told police she would not have contact with him again.

SS card found: A Social Security Card found by police on Jan. 24 was mailed back to the Social Security Administration after attempts to locate its owner were unsuccessful.


DUI citation: An Aurora woman was cited for driving under the influence Jan. 25 at 5:15 p.m. after an officer spotted her driving left of center and weaving on South Chillicothe Road. Her breath test revealed a level of .293. She was released on bond and her vehicle was towed from the scene.

Rear-end crash: An Aurora man was cited for assured clear distance Jan. 25 at 3:20 p.m. after police said he rear-ended a Twinsburg man's vehicle on North Aurora Road. No injuries were reported.
