Silver Lake Service Director Mark Lipan told Village Council on Monday night that there are 35 village residences that still need to have the new water meter installed.

Lipan told the Falls News-Press that notices will be hung on the front door of these homes on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Residents who have not had the new meter installed should immediately call 330-923-5233 to schedule an appointment.

“They will have until Friday, Feb. 10 to call and make the appointment,” said Lipan to the Falls News-Press on Tuesday, Feb. 7. “Water service will be terminated starting on Monday Feb. 13 for those who did not make an appointment to have their meter changed out.”

The new meters will send the reading directly to a computer at Village Hall, according to Lipan.

“The new meters can detect if a homeowner has a leak, it can tell if the meter is broken, tampered with…technology is great,” said Lipan.

He added the meters will “free up” man hours because three service department workers previously had to spend about three days reading all of the meters in the village.
