Tallmadge, Woodridge, Manchester and Barberton were participants of the Augmented Reality Sandbox professional development workshop called Hands In. Each of the districts sent representatives to build the AR Sandbox and develop lessons to advance students’ understanding of topographical maps, weathering and erosion. Students will also be asked to use hypothetical thinking to develop the reasons prehistoric Indians settled in Ohio where they did. Using virtual reality, students should embrace a deeper understanding and become totally engaged in these topics and more. The AR Sandbox will be used in Tallmadge to support third- through fifth-grade curriculum. The sandbox was purchased by the district to further support learning in the 21st century. "It was an awesome experience building the component that will be loved by our students," said Munroe Elementary School teacher Cerafina Gotto. "The AR sandbox is totally interactive, educational and fun!"
