Ballroom dance classes offered new session
The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is offering the following ballroom dance lessons at the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. All classes are taught in a progressive format, each series covering one dance for four weeks. To see what dances are being taught that session go to www.dancerinyou.com. Singles and couples are welcome, ages teen-adult. Pay at the door, no pre-registering needed. New session begins Thursday, Feb 2 and running through Feb. 23.
Beginner Ballroom- Will get you up and dancing the basics of dances, like Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing, Rumba and more. Have fun, get some exercise and be ready for social functions that include dancing. 6:30-7:15 p.m.
Intermediate Ballroom-This class will expand your repertoire and technical level on a wide variety of Ballroom, Latin and Swing dances. Dance with confidence and get noticed on the dance floor. 7:15-8 p.m.
Intermediate Argentine Tango- This class will expand your repertoire of the most beautiful and passionate dance in the world. This is the original Tango, from Buenos Aires, and seen in the movies. 8-8:45 p.m.
Enjoy meeting new people and visiting new places with a group? Falls Travel Club is open for all. The next membership meeting is Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. The program will be a presentation from the Akron Zoo. Refreshments following. The club will also be taking registration for the following trips: Five Irish Tenors at EJ Thomas on March 6 - call Eunice at 330-850-5434. Northfield Rocksino on April 5 and Vaud-villities Jubilee Variety Show on April 22 call Carol at 330-923-0884. Winter is just about over and so is your to do list. You may need to fix and maybe need some assistance by learning some woodworking skills. Why not attend a Woodshop Orientation Class at Quirk Cultural Center? The next evening class is Feb. 1 from 7 9 p.m. A participant will learn the usage and safety of each machine which includes saws, routers, and a press. There is a small class fee paid the night of class. After the orientation class is completed, participants may work independently in the workshop by purchasing a user card and is good for five visits. Or they can sign up for a three-week class on Wednesdays scheduled with the instructor. Supplies are student's responsibility according to project.
Benefit Card Party is Feb. 10
An annual Benefit Card Party will take place Feb. 10 New Year and new theme it's all about love and fun.
Tickets are presale only.
Includes dessert, door prizes, and an afternoon of enjoyment. Tickets are available at the Quirk Cultural Center. The event is sponsored by the Senior Volunteers. Benefits the Cuyahoga Falls Safety Forces.
